Averell has obtained the LRSM Diploma in Performing from the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music, London. He is a versatile musician comfortable with various genres of music from classical to jazz, blues and pop. He is a winner of several music competitions and awards. In 1998 he was the recipient of the Hilla Kurshedji Memorial Trust Award for having passed the Advanced Certificate Examination of the ABRSM with Distinction. In February 2005 he won the 2nd prize at The David Menezes National Violin Competition. He has many broadcasts and recitals to his credit including performances at the National Centre for the Performing Arts, Mumbai, the British Council, and the Kala Academy in Goa.
Since Dec 2003 he has been resident contracts with various five star hotel.
He has played the violin and viola with The Bombay Chamber Orchestra, The Japan Philharmonic Orchestra Orchestra and the Canton International Summer Music Academy Orchestra under the baton of esteemed conductors like Charles Dutoit, Robert Ryker and Ernest Hoetzl. He has performed internationally in China, Japan & Hong Kong. Since Aug 2006 he has secured a permanent position with The Symphony Orchestra of India India’s first fully professional orchestra. He is twice the 2nd prize winner at The David Menezes National Violin Competition in 2005 and 2008. In Aug 2007 he was invited to play with the London Undersound Orchestra at the BBC Proms in the Royal Albert Hall, London in a Nitin Sawhney introspective concert. |
